General information

Every other year a two-day KLI conference is organized in which all KLI faculty and Ph.D. students can participate. The next KLI conference will be organized on May 10-11, 2012, in conference centre Woudschoten in Zeist.

Conference chair

The Program Chair of this conference is dr. Gerben A. van Kleef from the University of Amsterdam.

Keynote speakers

Keynote speakers of this conference are prof.dr. Alexander Haslam (University of Exeter), prof.dr. Reinout W.H.J. Wiers (University of Amsterdam) and prof.dr. Bernard A. Nijstad (University of Groningen).

Conference themes

The conference will be organized around four topics that have been central in social and organizational psychology in the previous couple of years. Each theme will be organized and chaired by two theme chairs.

1. “Power & Leadership”
Chair: Lindy Greer (University of Amsterdam) and Joris Lammers (Tilburg University)

2. “The Self and Company & The Self and the Crowd”
Chair: Astrid Homan (VU University Amsterdam) and Floor Rink (University of Groningen)

3. “Intergroup Conflict & Interventions and Collective Action”
Chair: Fieke Harinck (Leiden University) and Kai Jonas (University of Amsterdam)

4. “Motivation and Goal Pursuit & Self-Regulation and Health”
Chair: Nils Jostmann (University of Amsterdam) and Esther Papies (Utrecht University)

In each conference theme, speakers from all tracks of the KLI will present their research. The goal of this overarching approach is to stimulate fruitful discussions and exchanges that bridge the different tracks and shed new light on the topics by combining and integrating perspectives from different levels of analysis (i.e., intrapersonal, interpersonal, group and organization, and intergroup). In addition, an explicit goal of this conference program is to highlight the benefits of cross-fertilization between social psychology and organisational psychology by facilitating the exchange of ideas across traditional boundaries.

Poster session

This year’s conference features an exciting new event: a poster session. This session was created to accommodate the desire of members who are not part of a thematic session to contribute actively to the conference program. Just like the conference themes the poster session will cover the full breadth of social and organizational psychology, incorporating all levels of analysis.

Best Paper Award

As usual the Best Paper Award for KLI PhD students will be awarded to the winner, who will present his or her paper.
